Lower Mawddach (guided by Coach John Jones) paddled by 8 LCC members including Stew & Ringo. Sunshine and showers warm at 10 Degrees. Level 0.5/0.51
Sunday 02/02/2020 Met at Public Toilet Falls car park 9:30am then put in 10am & warmed up before portage to above Public Toilet Falls.
We paddled Public Toilet Falls on the right and all ran it with style! Next the curly-wurly rapid which we all ran it river left but Lewis ran river right. John Jones provided some skills training, encouraging good paddling & turning using “the look where you want to go” principle. Competition for maximum number of eddies (got a bit physical) and the most devious line through the boulder garden.
The Lower Mawddach is always a stunning river with loads of interest. We got out at the usual old washed away path (Wen confluence) – a bit of a battle up the hill!
All in all we had another great day out and the group showed great team spirit and skills. Some of us went for a coffee and cake at the mountain bike centre whilst others sorted out transport.
